At Nelson Plant Food, we believe in promoting eco-friendly fertilizers and the use of natural ingredients whenever possible. We do not use fillers in our fertilizers, which some companies use to take up bag space. Instead, we opt to include a slow release nitrogen source that is produced from refined sewage sludge. This is not only an innovative way to reuse waste, but also provides valuable nutrients to your soil and turf. We currently offer the following natural ingredients, but are always looking for scientifically proven additions.

- Biosolids
- Cottonseed meal
- Feather meal
- Fish meal
- Alfalfa meal
- Humates
- Blood and bone meal
- Bat guano
The NatureStar series of products was created with Mother Nature in mind. Many homeowners and property managers are putting a high priority on being environmentally conscious. Our NatureStar products allow you to meet these demands as well as create an outstanding landscape. NatureStar Blood and Bone Meal is a simple but effective combination of protein nitrogen and phosphorus.
Our newest addition to the Nelson Plant Food family of products is our NatureStar Flower and Garden Food. This is the perfect fertilizer for your color change out and maintenance when managing a property that requires an eco-friendly solution.
Along with promoting eco-friendly fertilizers and natural ingredients, we also promote responsible application of fertilizers.
Over application and improper disposal of fertilizers can cause environmental damage and health risks. We encourage you to learn how to properly apply your fertilizer in order to reduce its impact on the environment and water systems.

Remember, little things do go a long way:
- Calibrate your spreaders
- Wear gloves, long pants, and closed toe shoes when handling any chemical fertilizers
- Water the fertilizer in after application
- Keep the fertilizer off sidewalks, roadways, etc.
- If you do get fertilizer on sidewalks, roadways, etc., sweep onto turf to prevent pollution of local drainage systems
